Jeff's Pig - 2003
Here are the details in Jeff's own words:
"When they say things are big in Texas,
Well they are.
This is my first experience running into a wild hog (BOAR)and I hope it
will be the last one but I know it won't be. I took him down with one shot with
my 270 on a full run at me. Great shot if I may say so, (heart, lung.) He
lost the fight. We have a scale at the camp which goes up to 440 pounds. Before I
got him off the ground he pegged the scale at 440 pounds. Around a 500 pound
pig. "
Now here is the true story.... This did not occur in
Texas at all.
It happened in New York City at the famous Central Park Zoo. If you look closely at
the third picture
you can see the entrance for the 59th Street Subway Station. The shadow to
the right of the second
picture is the hot dog vendor.
The Zoo official were concerned about
overpopulation of pigs in their Children's Zoo, so they
invited a few out-of-town hunters to do the job.
"I took him down
with one shot with my 270 on a full run at me." Now the
real story is that the pig was sleeping when he was shot.(See how his eyes are closed)
We also counted 18 bullet holes over his entire body.
"He pegged the
scale at 440 pounds" The truth..... Four
of them got on the scale
with the pig and it topped out at over 500 pounds. The sad part is that the kids
visiting the zoo now will have one
less pig to pet.
